Quick and professional hydraulic brake hose extension or repair… yes, it can be that simple!
Bike manufacturers are increasingly routing brake hoses and cables internally through the frame. It certainly gives the bike a cleaner look, but it also makes it much more complicated to replace or extend a damaged brake hose during servicing, for example when raising the handlebar height. On some e-bikes with mid-drive motors, the motor must even be removed to re-route hoses through the frame.
Elvedes has developed a smart solution for extending and repairing hydraulic brake hoses. The innovative Elvedes extension/repair connector is a precision-machined aluminium sleeve with an M8 compression-fitting interface on both sides.
How to extend?
Disconnect the brake hose from the lever and cut off the section that has the used olive and insert. Fit the connector onto the original hose, then attach a new length of brake hose cut to the correct size on the other end. Once the hose has been extended, reconnect it to the lever and bleed as required.
How to repair?
Where the brake hose is damaged or split, simply cut out the bad section. The connector is then installed between both hose ends. It’s important to use the correct insert (barb) that is pressed into the hose, ensuring that the system seals properly without leakage. Elvedes supplies the correct inserts for all major OEM brake systems.
