Lombardo Bikes, founded in 1952 by Gaspare Lombardo, a pioneer in the cycling industry, is a company that produces over 150 models of traditional and pedal-assisted bicycles, covering all development phases - from design and engineering to wheel assembly and frame painting. Since its inception, Lombardo has promoted bicycles as a daily means of transportation, anticipating modern trends. In 2010, it was among the first companies in Italy to produce electric bicycles and today represents the largest industry in the sector with entirely Italian capital. With two factories in Sicily and one in Germany, the company also stands out for its commitment to sustainability, generating 100% of its electricity from renewable sources. 67% of its production is destined for export, solidifying Lombardo Bikes as an international leader.
In March 2025, Lombardo Bikes acquired Cicli Olympia, one of the oldest Italian bicycle brands, founded in 1893. This strategic acquisition consolidates Lombardo Bikes as the most important bicycle manufacturer in Italy with entirely Italian capital. It also allows the company to expand its product range and strengthen its presence in the performance market segment. The acquisition of 100% of Cicli Olympia marks another key step in the growth and consolidation strategy of the brand, which chooses to invest and look to the future with determination, despite current challenges and the complex moment facing the bicycle industry. The aim is to preserve the value and know-how of Italian cycling manufacturing. A long tradition of craftsmanship and innovation unites the two companies. Cicli Olympia, a historic company with a 2023 turnover exceeding 17 million euros, was founded at the end of the 19th century in Milan. It built its legacy around competitive cycling and the heroic athletes of the past. Since 1959, under the leadership of the Fontana family, it relocated to the Veneto region, where it has grown and continues to be an iconic brand in Italian cycling. Today, the company is based in Piove di Sacco (Padua), and Lombardo Bikes reaffirms its commitment to preserving this facility, ensuring the continuation of local production.
Committed to inclusion and corporate welfare policies, Lombardo Bikes employs over 35% female workforce and actively promotes the return of Sicilian talents, strengthening its bond with the territory. Lombardo Bikes has received numerous awards for quality, innovation, and corporate welfare. The company was honored with the "Industria Felix Excellence Award," ranking among the 86 most competitive companies in Southern Italy. It has also received the "100 Italian Excellences Award", the prestigious "5W Award" from the Welfare Index PMI for its corporate well-being policies, the "Elite Euronext Company Award" for growth and financial stability, and the "Top Service Award" from Affari & Finanza of La Repubblica for excellence in customer service. Additionally, Lombardo Bikes was selected among the "Winning Companies" by Intesa Sanpaolo, a program that celebrates outstanding small and medium-sized Italian enterprises. This recognition highlights the company’s growth and development, emphasizing product quality and commitment to sustainability.
Since 2022, Lombardo Bikes has been an official supplier for Giro-E, an event organized by RCS Sport that runs alongside the Giro d'Italia, promoting sustainable mobility on two wheels.
