Serea was born out of necessity. We were convinced, and still are, that locking your bicycle could be much easier. As passionate cyclists, the team behind Serea shared a single vision: how to get rid of that key without compromising on security and convenience.

Our biggest challenge, and at the same time our mission, was to create a reliable lock that is strong, easy to use, affordable and convenient.

If you want to be keyless, you have to be smart. If you want to be smart, you need a battery, that's what we were told...

In a world where batteries cause major environmental problems, we wanted to prove that a smart lock does not need a battery. Apart from the environmental issues, we believe that it simply does not fit with our vision: cycling should reduce stress, not cause it.
